Calcitonin: hormone produced by the thyroid gland.

Euthyroidism: The state that occurs when the thyroid is
producing and releasing the correct of amount of thyroid hormones.
Hyperthyroidism: or over active thyroid, a condition that occurs
when the thyroid gland produces too much of the thyroid hormones.
Hypothyroidism: or under active thyroid, a condition that occurs
when the thyroid gland does not produce an adequate amount of
thyroid hormones.
Iodine: A trace element that is vital to a healthy thyroid
gland.
Metabolism: The body's process of breaking down food and
transforming it into energy.
Pituitary Gland: The "master" gland of the body. It produces and
releases thyroid stimulating hormone.
